We as a population strive to live in a clean environment, where the dining table and our waste live in dedicated separation. On the other hand, marine life doesn’t get to make that choice and often lives and dines around unwelcome guests. This pollution damages the environment and affects the health of all organisms and economic structures worldwide. Notice that it says all organisms and not all marine organisms. No, that’s not a typo, and of course, we don’t live in their disturbed environment, so how would it affect us? Well, do you eat seafood or know people who do? That’s right; nearly 25% of fish processed in the U.S. contain microplastics, and even that fancy sea salt you bought contains some, too.
