Design With [Less Than] Nothing
Design With (Less Than) Nothing invited students to explore the transformative potential of discarded materials. This course encouraged students to select waste items—from overlooked industrial scraps to everyday objects—and create innovative, meaningful, sale-able design solutions. Students explored a variety of materials, considering both conventional and unconventional sources, aiming to foster a mindset of experimentation and resourcefulness.
Throughout the semester, students engaged in creative problem-solving while applying practical skills to unconventional resources. This approach encouraged critical thinking and adaptability, making the design process relevant across various fields and projects.
Students created functional products, developed a compelling brand story, and finally, built an online [or other] portal to market and sell their creations.
