ETEK
In 1956, President Eisenhower introduced the National Interstate Act, which changed the way we travel across the United States. This solidified our focus on car-centric infrastructure. While this was revolutionary for America’s economy, it posed problems for densely populated cities. Many turned to mass transit or cycling as an alternative form of transportation. In recent years, cycling has become increasingly popular and is now backed by an ever-expanding E-Bike Industry. It provides commuters with endless options; however, due to federal regulations, they are not yet suitable for the road.
ETEK is a pedal-assisted electric motorcycle that capitalizes on the successes of the E-bike industry by joining the benefits of cycling and road travel. One of the main goals of this project is to prove that this type of solution could be just as efficient if not faster than cars in cities. This product serves to evolve our approach to bicycle making and suggests a change in how we think about city commuting.
