Jazz & the Anarchy of the Avant-Garde
Tone and intention are as important to how messages are received and interpreted as words themselves. Nonverbal language is an effective form of communication, capable of conveying messages that are both clear and ambiguous. Words left unspoken can be interpreted freely. Jazz animates language through avant-garde compositions of life and anarchy. Jazz represents a dynamic free-flowing language that captures the essence of life while embracing a kind of anarchic spirit in its defiance of established musical conventions. Jazz & the Anarchy of the Avant-Garde is an exploration of jazz in the form of a graphic score. It also explores the poetic manifestations of the unconventional and expressive nonverbal nature of the language of jazz in the context of design.
