Do you know that at least eleven countries celebrate the Lunar New Year? The Vietnamese Lunar New Year, or Tet, is an indispensable part of Vietnamese heritage and a true embodiment of the Vietnamese spirit. Tet visits us only once a year, but the feelings it engenders linger for a long time. “Tét Tet Tét, Tet is around the corner.” Calculated by the lunar calendar, Tet typically occurs at the end of January or early February. It is a time for relaxation after a year of busyness, a time to return home for a family reunion and to welcome the new year with all its unexpected adventures. Tet is a pillar of emotional support for every Vietnamese soul. It is a time of tranquility; a welcome pause in the constant tension of the mind; a warm welcoming embrace of distant sons and daughters; a cup of soothing tea to nourish the voice of the heart. Simply put, a Tet filled with the beloved is a Tet full of love.
