Unveiling Death
Death is inevitable. Our individual journeys all end in death. Whatever one’s beliefs about death and the hereafter, we will all ultimately leave this plane of existence. To return again, perhaps, or to journey somewhere new, or to go nowhere at all. Our own death or the death of a loved one doesn’t have to be a bad thing. So, how to think about it? As someone who has lived relatively untouched by death and loss, I put my skills as a designer and a writer to work to better acquaint myself with what it means to die, to be left behind, and to examine the various prices we pay, literally and figuratively, when we or someone close to us dies. I wrote poetry, conducted interviews, explored various themes around death, and engaged in personal research, all in an effort to gain a deeper understanding of death and dying so that I, and those who encounter this work may live more freely in the here and now.
