Design is a powerful tool that can create solutions for everyone, including those who may not always be acknowledged. We understand that there are groups, like older adults with physical disabilities, who often face stigmatization and assumptions that lead to neglect. According to the University of Michigan, 82% of older adults from ages 50 to 80 experience a form of ageism everday. That's why we've designed the Mobile Grab Bar, a product specifically tailored to their needs and challenges.
The Mobile Grab Bar is a unique solution that caters to the needs of older adults with physical disabilities. It challenges the assumption that all older adults are frail or incapable and empowers them with autonomy through engaging in exercises they can perform independently. This design is a testament to our commitment to combating ageism and promoting independence.
The Mobile Grab Bar intends to live inside a living space to be used anytime, anywhere. The users can transition from sitting to standing and lock into any physical therapy table to perform various floor exercises
