Stand Up Against Gun Violence
Gun violence in Chicago continues to rise despite successive efforts to reverse the trend. A major tourist destination, Chicago now carries the unofficial moniker Gun City. As a resident designer of the city, I have seen first-hand the horrifying impact gun violence has on families, children, communities, and schools. Stand Up Against Gun Violence is as much a product of statistical research as it is a public service campaign advocating for a more comprehensive approach to reducing, and one day perhaps even eliminating gun violence in Chicago. The messaging needs to be front and center in every echelon of city governance. Because while gun violence is especially high is some parts of the city compared to others, it crops up everywhere and affects everyone who lives and works in the city.
