A Wild Perspective
Within the first week of 2025, Southern California experienced several wildfires, two of which now rank together the second most deadliest and second most destructive as determined by the number of casualties and the number of structures burned in California history.
Standing in solidarity with the victims and first responders of this disaster, this project aims to bring these human experiences to those outside of California. A Wild Perspective gives users a private, immersive space to observe, feel, and understand the intensity and urgency of a wildfire. This experiential design project places the participant in the shoes of those who have lived through a wildfire, hoping to bridge the disconnect between us and our distant neighbors, and open doors for deeper conversations and empathy for one another.
While this exhibit captures scenes from wildfires, it’s important to note that this is not intended to replicate the full experience of a real wildfire. Every individual's experience of a wildfire is unique, and the emotional, physical, and environmental impacts of an actual wildfire cannot be fully captured in this setting. My goal is to raise awareness and foster empathy, not to mimic the true dangers and trauma that occur during such events.
