This project explores how design can preserve cultural heritage and strengthen familial connections within multigenerational immigrant households. As a second-generation immigrant, I’ve felt a growing disconnect from my culture and family—especially with loved ones scattered across countries and states. Inspired by this personal experience, my thesis centers on the idea that cultural traditions, especially during holidays, rely on strong and consistent family bonds. My solution is a hybrid digital and handcrafted display cabinet that fosters casual, frequent interactions among family members. By bridging both generational and geographical distances, this installation helps ensure cultural traditions are not just remembered—but actively lived and shared within the home.
