Type as a Character
Typography is more than just arranging letters—it conveys personality and emotion. While typefaces have their own unique characteristics, they often lack the dynamic qualities of characters, who come alive through movement and expression. Can typography be as expressive and alive as the characters we connect with?
Type as a Character brings letters to life by merging them with character design. Meet Amarylliz, or Amri (pronounced "AM-ree" for short), and her geometric companions—letters that transform into expressive figures with bold shapes and dynamic designs. Inspired by modular typography and children's illustration, these letters shift, pose, and interact, turning static type into something full of life and personality.
This project demonstrates how typography can be emotionally impactful by transforming letters into living, expressive forms that move, emote, and connect, just like the characters we relate to.
