Parenthesis
The first years of life are everything. They shape how we think, communicate, and connect with the world. However, early education at home can be a guessing game for many families, especially evident during and after COVID-19. Schools shut down, and emails replaced teachers. Parents, who were never trained or prepared, were left trying to fill in the gaps.
Parenthesis explores how we can bring proven early education methods like play-based learning, active exploration, and social-emotional development into the home in approachable, engaging, and fun ways. Instead of expecting parents to act like teachers, this product uses gamification to spark real interaction between parent and child.
Parenthesis aims to reimagine the home as a shared learning space where daily moments become playful and educational by designing a low-cost, customizable game kit. The goal isn’t to replace school but to support what already works with simple, interactive tools intended for families of all backgrounds. With careful choices around materials, cost, and ease of use, Parenthesis is about building a bridge between classrooms and living rooms, learning and play, and most importantly, between parent and child.
