Tearing Off the Label
This project revolves around the exploration and expansion of the Myers-Briggs Type
Indicator (MBTI), aiming to challenge conventional perceptions of MBTI, encourage breaking free from labels, and embrace the diversity and fluidity of individuality.
The MBTI personality framework has become a cultural phenomenon, offering young people a sense of identity and belonging. Yet this very appeal risks turning self-discovery into self-limitation—when people treat their type as a fixed label, they unconsciously restrict their growth and box others into stereotypes. The more we rely on MBTI to define ourselves, the more we outsource our self-awareness to a simplified system, losing touch with our fluid, multifaceted nature.
This design intervention challenges the overuse of MBTI by exposing its limitations through visual metaphors of fragmentation and transformation. By deconstructing rigid typography and showcasing dynamic personality spectrums, the work reframes MBTI as a conversation starter rather than a verdict. Its core message is urgent: Personality tests should connect people, not confine them—because every individual transcends categories.
