Nooks and Crannies
Life is an imperfect journey marked by frequent failures and occasional triumphs. The human experience is one of error and time spent minimizing that error as much as time allows. Perfection is impossible. The greatest artists, poets, designers, carpenters, etc., never achieved perfection. In everything touched by human hands lies the fingerprints of the imperfect process: the nooks and crannies.
It’s all in the nooks and crannies.
Every experience, every memory, every moment is defined by the little things. Modern society has always strived to minimize these imperfections for the sake of progress. With the advancement of technology, nooks and crannies are at an all-time low. Streamlined applications now usurp steps of century-old processes to save humanity time and energy.
In my design process, I embrace the nooks and crannies. I accept modern technology for what it is, but I am not fooled by the ease it brings. I welcome the flaws of analog processes and maintain a healthy skepticism of digital shortcuts. Imperfection is human perfection.
