Lucha-Packs
Lucha libre is the term for professional wrestling in Mexico, dating back to the early 20th century. One of the most famous ways lucha libre distinguishes itself from other wrestling scenes worldwide is its prevalent use of masks.
Masks have become a staple of the wrestling scene, utilizing flashy colors that leave an impression on all first-time viewers. However, the mask is very sacred within the scene, with luchadores not receiving their masks until they are deemed worthy by their trainer. Some notable historic masked luchadores, including El Santo and Rey Mysterio Jr., have left a lasting cultural impact in Mexico and Mexican wrestling, from starring in campy blockbuster films about defeating dastardly foes to inspiring Mexico's 2014 World Cup uniforms. Their influence is felt across the world as a result.
Lucha-Packs aims to honor the cultural significance of lucha libre by allowing fans to customize their bag in a way never done before. Utilizing button and snap technology, fans can replicate the look of the mask on their bags. Alongside the bags, the accompanying zine details the history of lucha libre and includes excerpts from in-depth interviews. Available in both English and Spanish!
