AUTUMN/WINTER 2060
”The year is 2060. The Paris climate accords were not met 10 years earlier dooming humanity to an uncertain future.
3.6 billion of the world's most vulnerable people living in developing countries, despite minimally contributing to climate change, are the most affected. Disruption of food and water supply chains, extreme weather, and poor air quality paired with a lack of access to proper medical care leads to mass death in the global south.
In the Western world, the average American experiences up to 50 days of 90+ degree temperatures; those living in cities experience hazardous air quality conditions for half of the year. Heatwaves, wildfires, floods, tropical storms and hurricanes have become more common and more destructive than ever.
Amid the looming shadow of the climate catastrophe and the uncertainty of humanity’s future, smog choked and wildfire-scarred Los Angeles has opened its doors to the 15th Annual LA Fashion Week.”
AUTUMN/WINTER 2060 is a speculative design project representing the projected future of our world if the 2050 Paris Climate accords are not met. We aim to represent this future through clothing in order to better visualize climate change’s impact on the human condition and environment.
