Touch AI
Seeing AI is a popular and trusted app among the visually impaired, helping users navigate daily life by describing people, text, and objects through audio. While it works well indoors, its reliance on handheld use makes it less effective outdoors, where hands-free, real-time support is needed for safer and more confident navigation. Touch AI addresses this gap by acting as a physical extension of the Seeing AI experience—specifically designed for outdoor use. This smart cane handles attachment pairs with the app, easing adoption by building on a familiar tool rather than introducing a new system. It integrates a 360° AI-powered camera and haptic feedback to deliver three levels of environmental alerts, allowing users to navigate public spaces with greater confidence. Developed through iterative prototyping and direct user feedback, the design focuses on emotional comfort, tactile familiarity, and weather resistance. Touch AI transforms the traditional cane into a discreet, intelligent companion for safer, more independent travel.
