The Art and Design of Escape Rooms
Manufacturers of escape room puzzles often overlook repairs and maintenance, leading to worker injuries. This issue came to my attention through personal experience with last-minute repairs and frustrations as a game master, as well as data collected from other companies. I aim to demonstrate that puzzles can be designed for easy repairs and quick resets. To prove this, I have designed a set of three puzzles that are both functional and simple to dismantle and repair. A rotating door, showcasing a lack of technology and complex design in a functioning puzzle. A magnetic maze, while less complex, has a drawer that pops open upon completing the puzzle. The final is a jigsaw that has more complex Internal elements to function.
